If you would like to transfer a domain from one registrar company to another, you’ll need to go through a few safety steps. One of them is obtaining a special EPP code from the present registrar company – provided that you are the domain registrant, since the code is emailed to the domain owner’s email address and no one else can obtain it. You’ll have to provide this code to the new registrar company, otherwise they won’t be able to initiate the domain name transfer process. The EPP authentication codes are case-sensitive and may include numbers or special characters such as dots or commas, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy/paste the correct code. As an additional protection measure, the transfer code for a domain may be reset regularly. Certain companies call this code a domain password, a domain secret or an Auth key as well.

EPP Transfer Protection in Website Hosting

In case you’ve got a website hosting, you have registered a domain name through us and you would like to transfer it away, you can obtain its EPP authorization code with no more than several clicks of the mouse. When you log into your Hepsia hosting Control Panel and navigate to the Registered Domains section, you will see all the domains that you have registered with our company shown alphabetically. Next to each domain, you’ll see a mini EPP icon for all generic and country-code domain name extensions that need an EPP code in order to be transferred between domain registrars. Clicking on the icon will email the code to the domain name owner’s email address right away. In the same section you can also see and eventually modify the email, if the one there is not valid any longer.

EPP Transfer Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you’ve registered a domain that you’d like to transfer, you can obtain the EPP transfer authorization code exceptionally easy through the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you’ll administer both your account and your domains. If you go to the Registered Domains section, you will notice an EPP sign next to your domain names, on the condition that their extensions support transfers between registrar companies with such a code. All codes are sent automatically by our system to the registrant’s email to make sure that only the domain owner can receive this info. In case the currently entered email address isn’t valid any longer, you can edit it with a few clicks without the need to leave this section of the Control Panel. The change is instantaneous, so you will be able to request the EPP code for the given domain name straight away.
