A subdomain is a website url, which is under a main, or a root domain. One example is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain name, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. apart from employing the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be entirely independent and also hosted by a separate service provider. Using a subdomain can be quite beneficial if you wish to have different web sites that are related in some way. For instance, you may have a web-based store under the main domain and a forum under a subdomain in order to offer means for your customers to ask questions or share thoughts about your products. The advantage of using a subdomain instead of a subfolder is that the websites are going to be separated, so you're able to update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Website Hosting

Every website hosting plan which we provide will allow you to create many subdomains with no more than a couple of clicks inside your website hosting Control Panel. They will all be listed in the section where you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so that you can very easily keep an eye on every one of them. In addition, you can access a lot of functions for any one of the subdomains via right-click context menus - for example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the site files, and more. While creating a new subdomain, you will also have lots of options that you can choose from - determine the default access folder, create customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or select if the subdomain will use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The number of subdomains you'll have is entirely up to you since we have not restricted this feature for any one of our packages.
